J. Lee Dockery, MD
Chair Emeritus
Dr. J. Lee Dockery is a Founding Trustee of the McKnight Brain Research Foundation and served as Chair from 1999 until his retirement in 2019. He remains on the Board of Trustees as Chair Emeritus.
Dr. Dockery served as the Executive Vice President of the American Board of Medical Specialties from 1991 to 1998. He then held several academic and leadership positions with the University of Florida College of Medicine.
Among many awards received throughout his career, Dr. Dockery is a recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award, Teacher of the Year Award and Hippocratic Oath Award from the University of Florida. His distinguished service to the University of Florida was also recognized with the President’s Medallion Award in 2024.
Dr. Dockery received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Arkansas and his graduate degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the University of Miami. He is a past President of the Florida Medical Association, member of the Florida Board of Medicine, appointed by the Governor, and a past member and Chair of the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation, an appointment by the United States Secretary of Education.
