Madhav Thambisetty, MD, PhD


Vice Chair

Dr. Madhav Thambisetty was elected a Trustee of the McKnight Brain Research Foundation in 2015 and has served as Vice Chair since 2018. He is a Board-certified neurologist with sub-specialty training in cognitive/behavioral neurology and sleep disorders. He currently serves as Executive Director of Neuroscience Translational Medicine at Novartis and is an Adjunct Professor of Neurology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Previously, he was a Senior Investigator (tenured) and Chief of the Section of Clinical and Translational Neuroscience at the National Institute on Aging (NIA).

Dr. Thambisetty is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and an elected member of the American Neurological Association. He received the NIA Director’s Merit Award for outstanding contribution to translational research in aging, public outreach and scientific leadership in 2011 and 2014 and was awarded the Norman Geschwind prize in Behavioral Neurology by the American Academy of Neurology in 2016.

Dr. Thambisetty completed residency and fellowship training in the Department of Neurology at Emory University School of Medicine and was also awarded a PhD (DPhil) in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of Oxford.
